		<description>I like your post on meditation! The only thing I would add is that many zen meditators do not close their eyes, rather the eyes are softly half open. I remember spending too many hours gazing at the patterns in a gray carpet! What I recall as a reason is the fact that when your eyes are closed, you might be more likely to fall asleep, go into fantasies, etc. Now I meditate the Siddha Yoga way, with a mantra most of the time . . . and eyes closed. I actually prefer this way to my old zen way. The zen way was quite difficult but gave me great training in discipline.
